Metro Tap to Exit has Corrected 5,100 Fare Evasions so Far
Metro Tap to Exit, a new system implemented by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), has already corrected over 5,100 fare evasions since its introduction.
The system, which was launched in response to widespread fare evasion issues, requires passengers to tap their TAP card on the turnstile as they exit a Metro station. This allows Metro to track who has paid their fare and who has not.
Since the implementation of Metro Tap to Exit, Metro has been able to identify and correct over 5,100 instances of fare evasion. This has not only helped to ensure that all passengers are paying their fair share for using the Metro system, but it has also helped to reduce the overall number of fare evasions on Metro trains and buses.
“We are committed to ensuring that everyone pays their fair share for using our system,” said a spokesperson for Metro. “Metro Tap to Exit has been instrumental in helping us crack down on fare evasion and improve the overall experience for all passengers.”
Metro plans to continue enforcing the Metro Tap to Exit system in order to further reduce fare evasion and maintain a fair and equitable system for all passengers.
